My soon to be ex wife (separated 2.5 years) received medical bills at her boyfriends home since she moved out of my home a couple years ago. One bill was never paid so went to collections. When she received the collections notice, she scratched out her address and forwarded to me. When I received it, I called Alamitos Dermatology to find out about the bill in collections. The billing woman said she could not speak to me since I was not the patient only the primary insured. When I called the collection agency, they said this was going to be reported to the credit bureaus within two weeks and there was no way to remove my name from it. I had to pay $464.18 for my ex's medical bill to keep from ruining my credit. How can Alamitos Dermatology have the ability to ruin my credit without giving me the ability to defend myself?
