Juan from Fix It Plumbing recently installed a new gas line from the gas meter to several gas appliances in my home. Overall the installation went well and they ran galvanized pipe through the garage and behind the sheet rock to my dryer, gas fireplace, and across to my gas range and gas hot water heater and furnace. I was pleased with the location and way that they chose to run the pipes.However, at the end of the installation, they made a faulty connection between the new gas line and my hot water heater, leaving an active gas line leak, leaking gas into my garage/house. I would have noticed it right away from the smell except that they also disconnected and drained the old gas line and said it would smell like gas for a few days and to air out the garage. I had to call PGE three days later to come out and do a leak check because the smell of gas wasn't going away and I was getting nervous. PGE said that with a leak that rapid it could have filled the garage within a few days if the garage were left unopened and then it could have caught fire from the pilot light.Leaving a gas leak is a huge safety hazard! You cannot finish a gas install job and leave a dangerous gas leak. A more thorough leak check should have been performed by Fix It Plumbing before they determined that the job was complete. I would NOT recommend using Fix It Plumbing for any installation related to a gas line, due to the seriousness of this safety issue with leaving a gas leak at my home when their installation was finished.
